YOGi 14 and 12 ride on Saturday 13 September
avatar

As many of our members will be participating in the tour of Britain ride, I will leading this weeks ride for the remaining 12 and 14 riders from B&Q as usual. However, if this is a really large crowd then we may split into groups. We will leave B&Q at the usual time and head on a new route to Bovey Tracey where I believe a new cafe has opened that has not had the pleasure of welcoming us YOGis yet. The route will see us go through Plympton, Ivybridge, Buckfastleigh, Ashburton, Bovey Tracey. Don’t be fooled that we have … Read more…

It’s my turn to lead this ride again and I shall be taking you (more or less) on my usual Noss Mayo Route: Starting at B&Q at 09:00 we’ll head out through Plympton and Cornwood to Ivybridge and then turn right towards Ermington. From Ermington we’ll take the Yealmpton road and then turn left onto the Mothecombe and the coast road toward Noss Mayo. Just before Noss Mayo we turn right through Membland and then Bridgend where we’ll encounter the first steepish hill of the day into Newton Ferrers. Once out of Newton Ferrers we’ll take a left turn down to … Read more…

Saturday 14 Ride, 6th Sept – a seaside visit
avatar

Hi all, this weeks ride will be following old ground and completing a figure of eight route with a café stop at the Seaton beach café.  To avoid the normal discussions at Tregantle as to who is going to do the extra loop we’ve taken that option out by starting with the Kingsand loop! So start as normal B&Q, then through town to the ferry, meet us there if you wish, the earliest ferry we will catch is the 0945 so any later there and you may be playing catch up!   From Torpoint we will head through St John, … Read more…

YOGi Leisure Ride 6th September Big Al is back from the Austrian Alps and this week we will head out to Princetown for our café stop at the Fox Tor. We will meet at B&Q as usual and then make our way out of Plymouth using the traffic free Plymbridge cycle track (or National Cycle Network Route 27, if you prefer). After emerging from the tunnel we hop off the cycle track for our first leg stretcher, the hill up to Clearbrook. Once at the top we re-join the cycle track and head out to Yelverton. Saturday 12 Road Ride – 6th September

Hi all, Steve Sendall has once again come up trumps with a cracking ride for you. This week he will be assisted by his glamorous assistant Russ Kevill. Here’s his plan. I was thinking that I have made the 12s suffer on the moor, so as a treat we would head to the beach, Blackpool sands. The route is B&Q 09:00 Plympton, Lee mill, Ivybridge, Wrangaton, California cross, Gara bridge and up that little climb!! Through Morliegh, left onto the A38, then right onto the Dartmouth road for about 4 miles. Right on to Venn lane, down to Stoke fleming … Read more…

MTB Fun / Social Ride – Sat 6th September
avatar

For this weeks Saturdays Fun Ride / Social ride we will meet at Blackaton Cross Carpark (aka Lone Tree Carpark), near to Cadover bridge at 10am. Directions: From right next to Cadover bridge (walking symbol marked 207) take the small minor road up towards the top of Lee Moor quarries. The public Carpark is marked with a cycling logo in the attached map. I’m thinking that if the weather is dry we will have a Pub stop for lunch/drink at Cornwood, but only if it’s dry. Otherwise we will do the usual and go after the ride for those that … Read more…

Saturday 14 Road Ride – 30th August
avatar

There is a tale told by the YOGi elders of a hill climb in a land far, far away, somewhere between here and middle earth, in a place that is known only as Widecombe in the Moor. This hill is said to be as steep as the road from hell and as long as time itself. The question you must ask yourself is ‘Are you ready for it??’ Wow, tripped out for a bit there, Widecombe’s not that bad actually.  The ride will start from our usual meeting point at B&Q car park, Plympton (09:00am). We will head out along the cycle track … Read more…

Saturday 16 Road Ride – 30th August

With dry weather forecast how about a little excursion around Dartmoor? From B&Q we will head up through Deux Alpes, Cadover, Sheepstor and on to Dousland although we may stick in a cheeky Burrator loop depending on the mood of the group.  Feel free to join us at the Burrator Inn around 10 but we’ll be on YOGi time!  From here it’s up Peek Hill and our first visit of the day to Princetown.  No stopping though as we really get stuck in to the meat of the day as it’s out through Two Bridges and on to Dartmeet and a nice cheeky climb! Heading towards Widdecombe … Read more…

Saturday Leisure Ride – 30th August
avatar

This week we will head into South East Cornwall, as I’ll readily admit this is my very favourite 30 mile route.  Why?  Well mainly quiet roads, stunning views, arguably one of the best cafe stops around and yes a few challenging climbs that we will take at a nice relax pace. Anyway as we say embrace the hills! For those who may not know what to expect this ride is aimed at the less experienced/fit riders so pace will be around 10 – 12 mph average (it will be at whatever suits the group that ensures we stay together). So route is:- B&Q … Read more…

From Lydford that steady climb up to Brent Tor back down to Tavistock and left up Pork and Merrivale, Foxtor Cafe for a brew and downhill all the way to finish at B&Q.
